I'm looking to build a list of reasons to agree or disagree... This is all I have so far: Please help!

You should make sketches, even if they are bad

I usually only do crewd sketches, and I never waste time with shading, but I really liked the shadows created by a lamp on my dresser.
This is a typical myclob sketch. I was waiting for Megan, who was in the shower. I've only drawn this house a couple of times in the year that I've been hear. And this is one of only two times in the year that we have had James that I have drawn him.
I used to sketch more, but I guess that might be explained by my art classes.
I also used to sketch when I fealt emotional, and I hate to say it but now that I am 29, I've just kind of gotten into a routine.
This sketch of my bedroom is the first and last sketch in my journal that Megan left on the top of the car, and that we found on the side of the road. I just threw it away in my rope-garbage.

  1. Photos can re-create a scene better than people can. Your simplifications and misrepresentations are what make you unique.
  2. Drawing is the only way that you can prove that you observed.
  3. The process of drawing forces you to observe.
  4. Drawing is a good way to relax.
  5. Drawing is a good way to focus your brain so that it doesn't jump all over the place.
  6. Drawing is a good way to listen to music and zone out.

Shooting is fun

Background: Russel, my brother in law, had a gift certificate for a firing range. So we rented a machine gun and bought $100 worth of .38 ammo. When you shoot a machine gun, the front kind of travels up on you. I was shooting the target at long range, and I accidentally shot the ceiling a little bit. However, I got some pointers and did not shoot the ceiling any more.
